10 years after our initial launch into the NHS, we would be acquired by a global leader in women’s health medical devices. There were key value drivers from their perspective that made our company and device an attractive acquisition opportunity. 

Ultimately, we needed to demonstrate a level of clinical adoption in the market by key facilities and clinicians. There were key steps we took to scale our business from a UK startup to an international medical device business operating in 20 countries.

In the months following FDA clearance, we were able to secure several pilots with leading OBGYN facilities across the US market. Many of these clinician relationships were built years prior - we were now finally able to get our device into the hands of these users.

Our US launch was built through direct sales and independent distribution partnerships nationally. These partners offered many years of experience and relationships in the OBGYN market. We maintained direct business in major cities on the East Coast.

Back in 2017, we received FDA clearance for our novel obstetric device and were now able to enter the US market. We were planning for this milestone years prior to regulatory approval. It’s never too early to start thinking about your go-to-market strategy. 

We developed our strategy around target hospitals, potential early adopters, key OBGYN clinicians, and academic centers that might offer research opportunities. 

We were also clear on our pricing strategy, route to market through sales and distribution, our marketing initiatives, and our early financial projections. We also built a clear value proposition that would be critical when navigating US purchasing committees.
